There is also this new StackOverlow clone in PHP 5.3, powered by MongoDB. It's actually a lot more than a "clone", has many features that SO does not have like ability to follow users, tags and questions and a bunch of other good features. It's powered by MongoDB.
I am the lead developer on this project.

Great write up. The iPhone is truly revolutionary and I don't like being without it. This time last year I had jumped in a pool with my iPhone and it was dead. I had to wait 9 days before I was able to purchasea new one. The phone I had was a cheap go phone. I really love all the games that can be downloaded to the iPhone. The best part about the iPhone to me is the ability to check emails on the fly. Thanks for the information.

Vincent: objectively speaking, it does not help at all.

Now, let's accept the fact that we are humans, that we have emotions and the way we talk is just a normal consequence. The initial post from Norman Richards was a perfectly polite and articulate talk in which he was raising real issues about most H.R. practices.

But instead of listening to the (really interesting) message, someone (who is not an isolated case) focused to the form of the message. I think it is a shame and that is why I loved the provocative answers. In the end, we do not care whether Norman Richards has an attitude or not, what is important is that he brought up important issues.

I believe that it is what we should focus on.

@mike: thanks ! It looks like SA's developers are also more helpful than their Hibernate counterparts :) And subtransactions have been around (and documented) at least since 0.4.x, so I have no excuse for not taking advantage of them :) So, I will look into it and see how much of my code can disappear thanks to this feature. (however, I guess the cleanup code will still have to be called when the session is no more active, right ?)
<pre>
  _session().close()
  session_maker.remove()
</pre>

@mathieu: I was talking about the perfect'ish Ruby, but Brainfuck would have been a candidate as well if it were more popular :)

took a look at your _transactional.py module. I think the SQLA session does a little more than you think. It does in fact do the "increment/decrement" thing with nested begin/commit pairs, where the "outermost" commit wins. Just use begin(subtransactions=True). I did use Hibernate / Spring and even EJB for quite some time so SQLAs design is well aware of those concepts.
